Tuesday was "School Spirit" day; students wore Clark shirts and the school colors, blue and white. Wednesday was "Hooked on Books" day; students were encouraged to bring a favorite book from home. How much blood can an elementary student give? Quite a bit, as it turns out.
On Wednesday, October 1, Clark students recruited parents, friends and family members to give blood for their first ever "Pint Size Heros" blood drive, bringing in 47 presenting donors and 24 first time donors.
Pint Size Heroes is an initiative sponsored by the Red Cross. The program is designed to introduce students to the blood donation process through an educational session and a blood drive held at the participating school. Students play a major role in the drive by recruiting a parent, guardian, or other adult to give blood.

Clark Elementary and Paducah Middle School recently received artworks from Picturing America, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts that helps teach American history and culture by bringing some of the country’s great art directly to classrooms and libraries. Awardees receive 40 large, high-quality reproductions of great American art and a comprehensive teachers resource book to facilitate the use of the works of art in core subjects.
