Clark Elementary‘s Academic Team has placed eighth out of 55 teams in the 13-state southeast region in the on-line Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl.
The quiz is a self-scoring, computer contest of 100 multiple-choice questions. Areas covered include math, geography, government , sports, spelling, science, literature, English, history, general information and just plain fun trivia. It is meant to be a team activity with all test takers around one computer. Two chances to answer correctly are given. Points are awarded based on how fast they answer, as well as on accuracy. Therefore, teams who do well usually are teams who can come up with a consensus answer quickly.
Contests at the 5th/6th grade level are offered in all 48 continental United States, this year grouped into regions. Clark’s team, made up of 4th & 5th graders, placed first in the state of Kentucky and eighth in the 5th/6th grade Southeast Region, encompassing ten states – Louisiana, Georgia, Virginia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina , West Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, & Kentucky.
