PTHS Hosts Region One Wrestling Tournament February 14-15

Paducah Tilghman High School will host the Region 1 Wrestling Tournament this Friday and Saturday, February 14-15:

Four PT Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

Four Paducah Tilghman football players signed letters-of-intent on National Signing Day. Derek Overstreet will play for Western Kentucky University, Darius Spivey-Nunn will play for Southern Illinois University, Mikey Davis will play for Lindsey Wilson, and Jordan Tyler will play for WKU as a preferred walk-on.  Congratulations!


PTHS Sends Eight to KMEA All State Chorus

PTHS students (l to r) Nathan Hawkins, Elizabeth Katz, Jailon Chism, Megan Golden, Logan Oatman, Cason Walden, Michael Hassel, and Blake Denson (not pictured) will perform in the Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) All-State Chorus. They were chosen for the honor in competitive auditions held across the state.

The concert will take place at the Kentucky Center in Louisville, Friday, February 7, 2014 as part of the 2014 Kentucky Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference.

The Paducah Tilghman High School Men's Choir has been invited to sing at the Kentucky Music Educators Association state In-Service Conference in Louisville on Thursday, February 6. They will be singing for music educators from across the state.


Paducah Middle Speech Team Qualifies Eight for State Tournament

The Paducah Middle School speech team took top honors in three individual categories at the Murray Regional Speech Tournament on Saturday, February 1 at Murray State University.  The team also qualified eight members for the state tournament and finished second in the overall team competition.

Regional champions were Marco Garcia, Impromptu Speaking; Ella Bailey and Jamie Black, Improvisational Duo; and Ella Bailey and Alexandra Wisner, Duet Acting.  Regional runners-up were Ella Bailey, Solo Acting; Jamie Black, Prose; and Emily Krall, Storytelling.  Other team members who qualified to advance to state are Kate Criner, Shelby Durham, and Erin Kelly.


Middle School Basketball Tournament Postponed

The district tournament has been postponed until next week due to the inclement weather, school cancellations, and scheduling conflicts. The first round games will be played on Monday and Tuesday while the Championship Games will be played at the host middle school sites on Thursday (Girls- HMS, Boys PMS.) PTHS Speech Repeats as Region Champs

(Murray, KY) For the second consecutive year Paducah Tilghman High School’s Speech and Forensic Team are the Murray Region Champs.

Twenty Tilghman team members competed in 30 events and scored points in 26.  The team ended with 72 points to 2nd place Murray High’s 65.  Other teams scoring points in the tournament were Calloway County, 63; Graves County, 45; Marshall County, 44; Crittenden County, 13; McCracken County, 6; Henderson County, 3.

Sophomore Micheal Hassel led the Tilghman team with 13 points and region champion titles in Humorous Interpretation and with 9th grade partner Michael Ellen Walden in Duo Interpretation. With senior partner Cade Perfili Hassel placed 4th in Improvisational Duo.

Senior Yasmine Martinez had 11 points. She and fellow senior Alexis Ash won 3rd in Improvisational Duo. She took 4th in Prose and 6th in Poetry.  

Ash won Region Champion in Dramatic Interpretation, 7th over-all in poetry and contributed nine points to the final score. Perfili also scored nine points. In additional to the 4th place Improvisational Duo finish with Hassel he placed 4th in Original Oratory and Impromptu Speaking.
