Ten lucky teachers were selected to receive $100 gift cards from Wal-Mart as a part of the Wal-Mart Teacher Reward Program.
Southside Wal Mart manager Allen Tappan and Community Involvement Coordinator Lisa Parrish visited McNabb on September 10 to participate in a drawing to select teachers to receive the gift. Associates at the store selected McNabb to receive the gifts, which teachers will use for supplies and snacks for their classrooms.
Teachers receiving gift cards included Rona Knox, 5th grade; Karen Smith, 4th grade; Nick Dietrich, 3rd grade; Zella Henderson, 2nd grade; Renee Mathis, 1st grade; Polly Price, Kindergarten; Rachel Futrell, Special Education; Rita Henson, Special Education; Vickie Martin, 5th grade; and Beverly Crockett, 2nd Grade.

Bad weather brought McNabb's back to school night indoors on September 9, but students and parents adapted wonderfully as they ate picnic lunches, played on inflatables, and met with teachers to review progress reports. You can see pictures from Back to School night here.

He wowed us last year as Ben Franklin & Friday, August 20, Mr. Dave Mitchell did it again! In his lively show, McNabb students learned that Reading = more than just words. They explored the history of written language and the many advantages of reading for your brain including increased concentration & memory. To demonstrate these principles, Mr. Mitchell described his personal reading habits and fascinated students with his own mental “magic” tricks. To view a few for yourself, go to mcnabbwriters.weebly.com and check out our Programs page! |
