WPSD Local 6 reporter Gerran Thomas and news anchor Jennifer Horbelt shared lunch recently with their lunch pals at Morgan Elementary.
News reporters Todd Faulkner and Julie Collins are also part of the program, as well as several officers from the Paducah Police Department.
"Lunch pals is a great program and is actually what got me interested in teaching," said instructional aide Curt Stewart. "It gives the kids someone to talk to and look up to."

Morgan students Shanice Cunningham and Noah Hall, along with Morgan faculty Jessica Stewart and Curt Stewart, were on hand to meet and greet at the Paducah Chamber of Commerce Power In Partnership breakfast. The breakfast highlighted the partnership between business and education.

Students at Morgan Elementary learned about fire safety as they toured the Paducah Fire Department's Fire Safety House. Firefighters guided small groups of students through kitchen, living room, and bedroom in the house and discussed how to practice fire safety in each area. The program was sponsored by the Morgan Elementary Family Resource Center.

New student registration at Morgan will be Wednesday, July 28, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
Kindergarten registration will be Monday, August 2, 2010 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Regular registration will be Monday, August 9, 2010 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Paducah Public Schools is pleased to announce that Greg Ross has been hired as assistant principal for Morgan Elementary School.
Ross received his B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK. He has a M.A. in Recreation and Leisure services and also a M.A. in School Administration from Murray State University. He is currently pursuing an Ed.D in Educational Leadership at Western Kentucky University.
Ross began teaching in 2005, and has served at Cooper-Whiteside Elementary, Morgan Elementary and H.B. Slaughter Elementary in Louisville, KY.
Ross is a current member of the Educational Professional Standards Board. He also serves as the Ethnic-Minority Director for KEA and is on the Board of Examiners for NCATE.

Conyer Chosen As Morgan Elementary Principal |

Longtime Paducah educator Vicki Conyer has been selected as the new principal at Morgan Elementary School. The school’s site-based decision-making council interviewed three candidates before informing Superintendent Dr. Randy Greene of her selection. Conyer served as interim principal this past school year after the death of school principal Stan Lafferty. She had served 11 years as assistant principal at Morgan.
"Vicki Conyer hit the ground running when she stepped in for Mr. Lafferty last year," Greene said of the selection. "She is the perfect fit for the position and the site-based council made a wonderful selection."
