Wall Receives Athletic Administrator Certification |
|
Paducah Tilghman Athletic Director Dwayne Wall has been recognized as a Certified Athletic Administrator by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA).
The CAA program identifies those directors nationally who demonstrate a certifiable level of both experience and expertise in the administration of interscholastic athletics. The certification process includes an evaluation of the candidate's educational background, experience, and professional contributions, as well as a rigorous, comprehensive written examination.
The NIAAA is a national professional organization consisting of all 50 state athletic administrator associations and more than 7,600 individual members. It is dedicated to promoting the professional growth of high school athletic administrators and preserving the educational nature of interscholastic athletics and the place of these programs in the secondary school curriculum.

Hancock to Attend Vanderbilt Summer Academy |
|
Paducah Tilghman sophomore Will Hancock has been accepted to attend the 2011 Vanderbilt Summer Academy (VSA), a program for gifted students hosted by Vanderbilt University’s Programs for Talented Youth (PTY).
Hancock will be taking Novel Writing.
Students who attend VSA are among the brightest in the country, scoring in the top tier on academic achievement tests such as the SAT and ACT.

Beck Wins Youth Board Scholarship |
|
PTHS senior Gordon Beck won a $500 scholarship from the USBC Kentucky State Youth Board in their annual scholarship contest for senior bowlers in the state. The scholarship was based on an essay, grades, and community involvement.

Three Selected for All-District Baseball and Softball Teams |
|
Sydney Flowers was named to the all district softball team, and Chris Nance and Jeremiah White were named to the all district baseball team at the district softball and baseball tournaments held May 23 and 24. Congratulations! |

Six Named Baseball Players Named to All State Academic Team |
|
Congratulations to members of the PTHS baseball team who were recognized for their academic achievement.
Miles Butler, Sam Cox, and Justin Holt were named to the All-State Academic team for having a GPA of at least 3.75.
Jacob Blankenship, Hunter Harmon, and Jeremiah White were named to the Honorable Mention team for having a GPA of at least 3.25. |

PTHS Boys' Track Captures Third at State |
|
J.D. Harmon led the PTHS boys' track team to a third place finish at the KHSAA Class 2A track meet with state championships in the long jump and triple jump. The girls' team finished 15th out of 44 teams, led by Ngodoo Itiavkase's second place finish in the high jump.
For the boys, the 4 X 200 relay team of J.D. Harmon, Rashad Brown, Zee Davis, and K.J. Washington finished second. The 4 X 100 relay team of Brown, Harmon, Washington, and Darius Garnett was third. The 4 X 400 relay team of Davis, Laguan Grubbs, Chris Flemons, and Arjon Thompson was fourth. Joe Jones was second in the discus. Will Hutson was seventh in the high jump. Justin Wynne was third in the pole vault.
For the girls, the 4 X 400 relay team of Jaliegha Winston, Keyonna Allen-Woods, Alexis Smith, and Aaliyah Cunningham was sixth. Aleja Grant was was 7th in the 1600.
