Seniors at Paducah Tilghman High School learned the importance of sticking to a budget, saving money, and paying bills on time through an innovative financial literacy program sponsored by the Kentucky Bar Foundation, Inc.
The Credit Abuse Resistance Education (CARE) program was presented to students by volunteer members of the McCracken County Bar Association on May 23, 2012 . The CARE program also included discussions on the true cost of credit cards, common forms of credit, the ins and outs of car loans, the danger of predatory lending practices, and the consequences of credit abuse.
“This effort allowed local attorneys to meet face to face with students to discuss the legal obligations associated with credit, the many ways people abuse credit and how bad economic decisions regarding finances can impact their lives negatively for years to come,” said Diana Douglas, CARE coordinator for the McCracken County Bar Association.
